"Trust Your Eyes To Experience" LASIK and refractive surgery, cataract and glaucoma surgery Patrick M. Mardesich, M. D. was born in Los Angeles, California and received his undergraduate degree in science from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. His medical degree was received from the University of Southern California School of Medicine, in Los Angeles, California. He then completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at Akron General Medical Center in Akron, Ohio. Following this, he completed a three-year residency in ophthalmology at the Albany Medical Center in Albany, New York. While in his last year of residency, Dr. Mardesich distinguished himself academically by scoring an overall 98th percentile nationally on the ophthalmology knowledge assessment program. He also developed working prototypes for surgical instruments while in his residency. He subsequently completed two years of fellowship training in LASIK and refractive surgery and cataract and glaucoma surgery. These fellowships were with Robert Stewart, M. D. at Houston Eye Associates, in Houston, Texas and Robert Kershner, M. D. at the Orange Grove Center for Vision Correction in Tucson, Arizona. Dr. Mardesich has published articles in ophthalmology journals and presented topics at ophthalmology conferences. He recently took and passed the written component of the ophthalmology board exam, scoring in the 90th percentile nationally, and is scheduled to take the oral component in May 2001. Since 1995, Dr. Mardesich has performed thousands of ophthalmic surgical procedures including LASIK, glaucoma and “no-stitch, no patch” cataract surgery.
